Kip & Sarah Wilson Farewell: Sunday, June 21, after 10:05 service
Memory of our fellow sister, Genevieve Schneider, whom the Lord called home on Wednesday, June 10, at the age of 82. The funeral service was conducted on June 15. Her mortal remains were laid to rest at Bayside Cemetery to await the Resurrection. “Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
Summer Hours for the building/offices are Monday thru Thursday thru August. Please take care of any business you may have at church during the week on those days, as the building will be locked on Fridays. This includes SCRIP sales, checking your team mailbox, etc. As good stewards of the Lord we will be conserving on air conditioning and lights. Thank you for your cooperation!
No Summer mid-week Services This summer we will not be holding mid-week services.
Farewell Gathering Following the late service this Sunday, June 21st, the congregation is invited to say goodbye to Kip and Sarah Wilson and their children during a coffee gathering in the Social Room. The Wilsons will be leaving to serve at Zion Lutheran in Denver. We wish them God’s blessings.

Many hands make light work.

Thanks to our planters! On Monday afternoon and evening we had several people from the congregation who weeded and planted the islands and other areas around church. Thanks to all who got on their knees to beautiful our grounds! And thank you also to the volunteers who spend many hours over the summer keeping the flowers growing and the weeds not so much!
Recognition At last Sunday’s 7:30 service, Joyce Schack was recognized for her service to the Lord as a member of St. Peters Choir. Joyce retired this spring after being a choir member for 65 years! We thank our Lord for providing this opportunity for Joyce to use her musical gifts to serve Him. Thank you, Joyce, for your dedication.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Stephen Bautista will share musical selections at all three church services next weekend (June 27-28). A “meet & greet” time will follow all weekend services. He will also be performing a concert on Saturday evening, June 27th at 7:30 pm in our Family Life Activity Center. To get a taste of Stephen’s music, visit his website at www.stephenbautistamusic.com
It’s Ready After months of hard work our new website is up and running, although there are a few little projects to finish. We thank Kris Gosser for his work on it. Go to: http://www.stpeterslutheran.net/ - it includes an events calendar, journal entries, the current bulletin news, special events announcements, items of interest, our school newsletter, photos, plus many other items including links to Griefshare and DivorceCare, WELS.net, opportunities to serve and pastor’s sermons. Take a look!
Active Agers… Thank you, St. Peters members, for your participation in the success of our three panel presentations made possible with financial assistance of Thrivent’s grant for outreach efforts and the “man/women power” supplied by so many of you! We pray that those who attended St. Peters for the first time will be moved by the Spirit to return to St. Peters. Please encourage and welcome them!
The Outreach Team is considering presentations this winter. Participants made excellent programming suggestions and other suggestions are welcomed. We will consider our financial limitations and/or adapt a different approach to offering these opportunities. Contact Outreach Chairman, Everett Roberts.
Come to the Fair! The Door County Fair is Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 5-9. The Outreach Team is organizing St. Peters Church and School to have booth space at the Merchants Building to share Christ with fair-goers. St. Johns enjoyed success in this effort last year and this year we will have side-by-side booths to meet and greet and educate folks on WELS and our similar mission “to share Christ”.
This is a congregational effort. Your help is needed to represent St. Peters. We need two people for each of the following shifts on each fair day: Shift #1, noon-4pm; Shift #2, 4-7pm; Shift #3, 7-10pm (Sunday noon-4 only). Our church/school info will be available at the booth for your use and reference.
Please check your calendar now to schedule a time and call Jan Ziemann, 746-9931, to sign up for your preferred time. Husband/wife teams, families, graduates of St. Peters School, all are encouraged to consider this opportunity to share our church’s mission, our Christian Day School opportunities, as well as all of our other educational/fellowship offerings.
We exist to share Christ! Please join in doing this at our Door County Fair. The Outreach Team

Nevada Musician Stephen Bautista Performing at St. Peters Lutheran Church
108 W. Maple Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI
June 27-28, 2009
In a world where Christians often feel the pressure to put up a perfect front, one man is openly sharing a life story that parallels that of the Biblical prodigal son. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Stephen Bautista is stepping out on a limb of faith as he shares his unique insights about the Christian walk in the form of his music.
Bautista’s Nashville-produced debut CD, Abandon, is a contemporary Christian collection of original songs about the journey, struggles, and joys of the common Christian’s walk of faith.
“This album explores the feelings, thoughts and experiences I have had in the course of this unlikely relationship between a perfect, almighty God and an imperfect man,” Bautista stated. “The title song is a recognition that often times we have to come out of our comfort zones to fit into God’s will. This is what I’m doing with my music ministry.”
Abandon was produced by veteran Nashville producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records. Copeland, who lives by the motto “good isn’t good enough,” assembled a team of top studio musicians whose resumes include projects for Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Faith Hill, Michael McDonald, and Amy Grant, among others. The album was engineered by Grammy Award winning sound engineer, Ronnie Brookshire. Some of the same names are at work in the production of Bautista’s second album as funding permits.
Not new to the music performance scene, Bautista has performed at venues in Wisconsin, California, and Nevada. With the 2007 release of Abandon, Bautista expanded his performance schedule and locations to reach more people with the straightforward truths of his message.
“If I can reach just one lost soul for Christ or encourage a fellow believer who may be struggling,” Bautista said, “then this whole journey has been worth it.”
Bautista and his wife, Door County native Christy (nee Baye), home school their six children in southern Nevada.
Stephen will be performing songs from Abandon as well as debuting new music at his solo concert Saturday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Activity Center. He will also be sharing selections of his music during all three church services the weekend of June 27-28, i.e. Saturday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 28 at 7:30 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. CDs will be available for purchase at all events. A “Meet & Greet” time between Sunday services will offer a chance to chat with the artist and his family over refreshments and coffee. To get a taste of Stephen’s music, visit his website at www.stephenbautistamusic.com, or call St. Peter’s and enjoy the CD while it plays as background music for those on hold.
Stephen and his family look forward to sharing these special events with you.
