St. Peters Youth for Christ will be washing cars, grilling brats and burgers on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22 and 23 in the Larch Street parking lot before, during, and after services. Your support gets us on the road to the 2010 Regional Youth Rally in Trego, WI.

A BIG Thank You to everyone who has volunteered so far this summer to help. Volunteers have helped plant flowers and weed the beds, trim bushes, and others have helped in various painting projects that we needed to complete. It is always wonderful when individuals step up to help and all of you have done a great job, but we are far from done! There is still time for others to assist in beautifying God’s house. Call Bob or Jon today to take advantage of this opportunity.

We Need YOUR Help at the Fair St. Peters Church/School will be participating in the Door County Fair Wednesday Sunday, Aug. 5-9. We NEED VOLUNTEERS to represent us at our booth. St. Johns enjoyed success in this effort last year, and this year we will have side-by-side booths to meet and greet and educate folks on the WELS and our similar mission “to share Christ”.

This is a congregational effort. Our church/school information and handouts will be available at the booth for your use and reference and to distribute to visitors. We need two people for each of the following shifts on each fair day: Shift #1, noon-4pm; Shift #2, 4-7pm; Shift #3, 7-10pm. (Sunday has already been booked.)

Please check your calendar to schedule a time and call Jan Ziemann, 746-9931 to sign up for your preferred time. Husband/wife teams, families, graduates of St. Peters School, all are encouraged to consider this opportunity to share our church’s mision, our Lutheran Elementary School opportunities, as well as all of our other educational/fellowship offerings. Also, it will be FUN to visit with fairgoers.

We exist to share Christ! Please join in doing this at our Door County Fair. The Outreach Team

Thank you  To St. Peter’s Choir and Congregation:
     Thank you so much for the surprise choir performance of one of my favorite songs. It was truly a touching moment and a great way to retire from choir after 65 years. The decorative framed gift will be a constant reminder of God’s musical blessings.                                                              – Joyce Schack

A Soldier’s Prayer

Almighty Father, Whose Command is over all and Whose Love never faileth,

let me be aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will.

Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty

in purpose and in deed, and helping me so to soldier and to live

so as to stand unashamed and unafraid before my fellow soldiers,

my loved ones, and Thee.

Protect those in whose love I live.

Give me the will to do the work of a man and to accept my share

of responsibilities with a strong heart and a cheerful mind.

Make me considerate of those entrusted to my leadership

and faithful to the duties my country has entrusted to me.

Let my uniform remind me daily of the traditions

of the Service of which I am a part.

If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith;

 if I am tempted, make me strong to resist;

if I should miss the mark, bestow upon me courage to try again.

Guide me with the light of Thy truth ~ and keep before me the life of

Him in Whose example and deliverance I trust.

In the name of my Lord, Amen.
