A Special Thank You  to Pastor Mark Wenzel from Wisconsin Lutheran Institutional Ministries for being with us and sharing God’s Word. Please pray for the continued work of WLIM.

WLIM Weekend  Our annual WLIM weekend is this weekend, November 7 & 8. WLIM is the only group in the WELS that does face-to-face prison ministry. The synod does not. WLIM is not funded by the synod, but rather operates on offerings from individuals, congregations, organizations, Sunday Schools, schools, and others. It does ministry to people in prisons, mental health facilities, metropolitan hospitals, nursing homes, youth detention centers, and drug and alcohol work.

Door Offering today  All are encouraged to give for WLIM (Wisconsin Lutheran Institutional Ministries) at the door offering today, which gathered $1,550 last year.

At this Sunday’s 8:45 am Bible Class,  Pastor Mark Wenzel will present a special Wisconsin Lutheran Institutional Ministries (WLIM) Bible class.

In Memory  of our fellow sister, Olga Tischler, whom the Lord called home on Monday, November 2, at the age of 85. The funeral service was conducted on November 6. Her mortal remains were laid to rest at Zion Cemetery to await the Resurrection. “Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.” 1 Thess. 4:13-14

Baptisms  Mckenzie Marie Sperber, daughter of Kimberly Sperber and Steven Skippon, will become a child of God and St. Peters congregation through the washing of Holy Baptism Sunday, November 8 at 11:15 am. Witnesess are Holly and Jeremiah Wendricks and Amber Hilsabeck. Aspin Sky Heimbecher, daughter of Cassandra Heimbecher and Jared Andrews, will become a child of God and St. Peters congregation through the washing of Holy Baptism Sunday, November 8 at noon. Sponsor is Jeremy Heimbecher; witness is Hannah Heimbecher. May God continue to strengthen these child in their faith in Jesus. “Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name.” Acts 22:16

At our 3rd quarterly congregation meeting, Treasurer Chad Hougaard presented the financial report and the dire situation we find ourselves in. As of the third quarter we are $123,266 under the weekly offering budget, and projected to go to $165,000 if things do not improve. We have borrowed repeatedly from our line of credit to pay monthly bills and the Board was forced to again borrow from the line of credit in October so the current debt to the bank on our line of credit is $132,000. Total debt as of Sept. 30 including the building loan, member loan, line of credit and the money borrowed from the building fund amounts to $1,295,668. Jim Peterson reported on the Long Range Planning and their steps to correct and update the church constitution and bylaws. Chairman Chuck Cihlar reported on the Solid Plan which involved sermons, Bible classes, cottage meetings and item number 4 which was reported as the Ad Hoc Committee report. Secretary Jim Peterson read from the Ad Hoc Report which stressed actions that could ease the current situation, many of which are already being planned. Executive Board members welcome all comments and suggestions and directed members to contact the business manager with any ideas, questions or suggestions.

Want to have some fun?  We will be decorating the church and school for Christmas at noon on Sunday, Nov. 29. In past years, those who turned out to help had a wonderful time full of fun, fellowship and the real sense of helping in making God’s house beautiful for the holidays. Lunch and treats will be available as well as beautiful Christmas music throughout the building. There is no Packer game that day, so bring the kids – the gym will be open. Let’s make this a family tradition!

 GRIEF SHARE HOLIDAY SEMINAR

The holiday season is fast approaching, and if you’ve recently lost a loved one, you are likely experiencing a jumble of emotions that you’ve yet to sort out. Facing a holiday after the death of a loved one can be more difficult than your friends and even family may realize. That’s where the GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays video can help.

On the video you will meet Christian experts and others who have experienced the death of a loved one. These people share honestly about…

·                       Being prepared for surprising emotions that may hit over the holidays

·                       What to do about traditions and other coming changes

·                       How to handle holiday parties and invitations

·                       How to survive potentially awkward moments with other people

·                       Where to find comfort, strength, and hope in a seemingly hopeless time

You are invited to view “Surviving the Holidays” on Sunday, November 22nd at 2 p.m. in the Social Room. The program lasts about 2 hours and refreshments will be served.

So that we will have sufficient printed material and refreshments, we ask that you pre-register by November 14th by calling Bob at 743-4431, extension 161.
