Dear Parents and Students,
2010 Census: The 2010 Census Complete Count Committee & LWV DC has created a short (6 minute) video that shares basic but key information about the upcoming census. The local address/link is: www.doorbell.net/video/census2010.wmv The You Tube address/link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgXinQtmAHg
CEEF Tuition Aid: The CEEF Committee needs all applications for the 09-10 school year by Thursday, February 4. After that deadline, the committee will not accept anymore applications for this current school year. The Committee will meet again after February 4 to evaluate the applications. Final Executive Board approval will be addressed at their February 16 meeting.
Praise the Lord: Thank you children (and teachers) for bringing us the message of God’s love through your song on Sunday. It did a lot to beautify the service.
Christmas Service: So far the overwhelming majority would like to see the Children’s Christmas service during the last week of school before Christmas (1st Choice: 15-last day, 9-Sunday before, 6-Christmas Eve; 2nd Choice: 10-last day, 9-Sunday before, 4-Christmas Eve). The LES Committee and Faculty will get a bit more input before we give a recommendation to the Worship Committee. Thank you for your input.
Ministry & Mission: “We exist to share Christ.” Our church leaders are now putting their time and energy into our ministry and mission. Our school leaders are also focusing on our mission as stated on the top of this page. You can help! Pray that the LORD blesses our efforts. Pray that He moves the hearts of His believers here to give of their first fruits. Pray that people come forward to give of their time and abilities to make this a time of increased ministry and not of cutting back. And then, if you are serious about your prayers, let the Holy Spirit answer them by moving you to action.
As I stated last week, I believe we can show our love for our LORD and for the importance of the ministries the church and school provides. I believe we can increase our weekly offerings over and above what we already bring to the LORD. You will be hearing more of this as plans become action. But you don’t have to wait until then. Call your Executive Board or Business Manager, Bob Johnson, and let them know what you are able to do. Pray now and see what happens!
Box Tops & Milk Caps: Keep bringing in your Box Tops for Education and your milk caps. The Box Tops for Education are worth $.10 each and the milk caps (Kemps or Morning Glory) are worth $.05. The classroom that collects the biggest dollar amount per student will get some ice cream! Take them to your classroom and I’ll have your teachers give me an update. The contest will conclude the last week of February.
Basketball: A big thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped out and donated items for the home games this year. You help make an Athletic Director’s job much easier. Thank You!
The B team played well on Friday beating St. Paul, Algoma’s C team. All three of our teams took one on the chin this Saturday losing to Trinity, Brillion. The girls kept it close the first half and the boys A were in it right until the final buzzer.
Family Fun Night is Tuesday (tomorrow). The girls play Zion, Egg Harbor at 4:30. The boys (grades 4-6) play at 5:30. We will have pizza at 6:30 followed by a “Player vs. Parent” game at 7:30. So parents, dust off those old Converse All-Stars and lace them up tight. Come join the fun.
Spirit Week kicks off this Thursday with Pajama/Wacky Hair Day followed on Friday with Hippie/Disco Day (I’m not sure how the two fit, but have fun anyway). The Lakeshore Lutheran League (LLL) Tournaments begin this weekend with the Boys B teams. They will play their first round game vs. Wayside on Saturday at 9:00 at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Their other games depend on the result of that first game.
Spirit Week continues on Monday with Summer/Hat Day, Tuesday-Career Day, and Friday-Red, White, and Blue Day. There will also be a Pep Rally on Friday at 2:00. The A Team tournament will be the following weekend (Feb. 12,13,14). Our Girls play Friday at 5:05 vs. Algoma. Our Boys A team will play Friday at 7:15 vs. First German. These games are also at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Come cheer on the STORM in post-season action.
We also have school apparel available for your purchase outside the Principal’s Office. Get some good old “read, white, and blue” STORM clothing and cheer your teams on during the tournaments.
Soup Bowls: The bowls your children made will be on sale this Saturday from 11am-3pm to benefit Feed My People and Peninsula School of Art’s Children’s Outreach Program. That Outreach Program is what enabled us to take the children up there for a day of art activities. You may buy a bowl, homemade soup, and bread for $15/person.
Preschool Preview & LES Open House: Even with the current cutbacks, we are determined to provide a quality preschool program here at St. Peters. Our Preschool Preview will be on Tuesday, February 23, beginning at 5:30. This will be followed by an all school open house and pizza and entertainment at 6:30. Come and join us for an enjoyable, informational evening.
