Dear Parents and Students,
Ash Wednesday: The Lenten season begins this week with our Ash Wednesday services at 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM. The faculty wants to kick this season of our church year off right by offering a spaghetti dinner before the evening service. The school faculty is also issuing a challenge to all other church teams to step up and host a Lenten meal. It is a lot of fun and provides wonderful fellowship as we walk together during the Lenten season to the cross of salvation. Plan to attend this wonderful fellowship opportunity each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:15, prior to each evening service.
Thrivent Financial Bridge Grant Funding Grants: We have been blessed these last few years to participate in the Thrivent Matching Funds and these funds have greatly helped to reduce our building debt. We are all aware that this program has ended and Thrivent realizes that this will cause hardship for churches like ours that has capitalized on this benefit. To this end Thrivent is offering a one time opportunity for the entire congregation. If the congregation can raise a separate $10,760, designated for the school Thrivent will match it by ½ with $5,380. Everyone at St. Peters can help out! You do not need to be a Thrivent member to help us reach this total. We will handle it much like the matching funds of the last few years. There are no forms but the checks should be designated for the school and placed in a household envelope marked Thrivent Bridge Funding. The deadline is June 30th but as soon as we raise these funds we will receive this grant money. Thank you for your help in reaching this goal.
Calling all men! Mark you calendar for February 21 for the annual Men’s Lenten Dinner. It will be held in the Fellowship hall and begin at 5:00. All men of the congregation are invited. Pastor Falk will be the special presenter. Please call Larry Maas 743-6518 or Bob Johnson 743-4431 to let us know how many to expect.
Missions: Our 3rd quarter missions are going toward Haiti relief. We will be sending them to our missionary in the Dominican Republic for him to take to where it is needed in Haiti. There is a border town there that has a hospital where they are treating many who were injured in the earthquake. They will also be sharing Christ’s love with them. So far we have nearly $200 this quarter.
Box Tops & Milk Caps: One week left in the contest. Who’s going to get the ice cream? Fourth graders have $40 worth so far. What does your class have? The contest will conclude February 23. We will mail them in Feb. 26.
Midterms: Midterm reports come out next week.
Basketball: The girls team played Algoma and Wayside and lost both. The boys A team will played First German and Algoma and lost two close ones. Thegirlsplay again this next Saturday and Sunday down at FVL. The boys B team will close out the season at St. Paul, Algoma on Feb. 27-28.
Preschool Preview & LES Open House: Come join us for an evening of fellowship and a bit of “showing off” next Tuesday. We are conducting our annual Preschool Preview on Tuesday, February 23, beginning at 5:30. We will continue with our all school Open House which went well last year. We will have pizza and entertainment at 6:30. Please return the slip below so we can plan the pizza accordingly. Come and join us for an enjoyable, informational evening.
Preschool Screening: Sturgeon Bay School District is once again hosting a free screening for four year old children. This screening is on March 1 at Sunset school. This is for children in the Sturgeon Bay district who will be four by September 1 (3 year old screening is in the fall). This is available for our students as well. Call 746-5855 for an appointment.
