Simon Says…

Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah and Savior, God on earth!

Who do YOU say He is?

Simon Says presents New Testament characters with a modern day twist and loads of fun!  The musical culminates in a courtroom; Simon Peter is charged with fraud for preaching that Christ is the Son of God and the Messiah.  He must either prove himself truthful or cease and desist preaching.  Eyewitnesses are called to present overwhelming evidence that Jesus is exactly who “Simon Says.”

I Peter 3:15 says, “Set apart the Messiah as Lord in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

Come and join us Thursday, May 27th or Friday, May 28th at 6:30 PM in the Family Life Activity Center at St. Peters Lutheran School.  Our 5th through 8th grades are sure to delight and surprise you with their God-given talents as they present to you the musical Simon Says the Rockin’ Trial of Simon Peter.  The musical is created and written by Jimmy Travis Getzen and Gail Getzen.

          See you at the SHOW!

Let’s make this retreat trans-generational. So whether you’re confirmation age or an age you’re not willing to share – let’s come together and raise our hearts in study and in prayer! We would also encourage you to invite your family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors to join you and us for this special event.

Hurry and register–space is limited. Cost: $10 (checks made payable to St. Peters Lutheran Church, write “Prayer Retreat” on the memo line. Questions? Or to Register: contact St. Peters at 743-4431 x161. Registration deadline is March 15. We can’t wait to pray with you!

We Need YOUR Help at the Fair.

St. Peters Church/School will be participating in the Door County Fair Wednesday, August 5 - Sunday August 9.  We NEED VOLUNTEERS to represent us at our booth.  St. Johns enjoyed success in this effort last year and this year we will have side-by-side booths to meet and greet and educate folks on WELS and our similar mission “to share Christ”.
This is a congregational effort.  Our church/school information and handouts will be available at the booth for your use and reference and to distribute to visitors.  We need two people for each of the following shifts on each fair day:  Shift #1, noon-4pm; Shift #2, 4-7pm; Shift #3, 7-10pm. (Sunday has already been booked.)
Please check your calendar to schedule a time and call Jan Ziemann, 746-9931 to sign up for your preferred time.  Husband/wife teams, families, graduates of St. Peters School, all are aencouraged to consider this opportunity to share our church’s mision, our Christian Day School opportunities, as well as all of our other educational/fellowship offerings.  Also, it will be FUN to visit with fairgoers.
We exist to share Christ!  Please join in doing this at our Door County Fair.

Nevada Musician Stephen Bautista Performing at St. Peters Lutheran Church

108 W. Maple Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI

June 27-28, 2009

In a world where Christians often feel the pressure to put up a perfect front, one man is openly sharing a life story that parallels that of the Biblical prodigal son. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Stephen Bautista is stepping out on a limb of faith as he shares his unique insights about the Christian walk in the form of his music.

Bautista’s Nashville-produced debut CD, Abandon, is a contemporary Christian collection of original songs about the journey, struggles, and joys of the common Christian’s walk of faith.

“This album explores the feelings, thoughts and experiences I have had in the course of this unlikely relationship between a perfect, almighty God and an imperfect man,” Bautista stated. “The title song is a recognition that often times we have to come out of our comfort zones to fit into God’s will. This is what I’m doing with my music ministry.”

Abandon was produced by veteran Nashville producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records. Copeland, who lives by the motto “good isn’t good enough,” assembled a team of top studio musicians whose resumes include projects for Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Faith Hill, Michael McDonald, and Amy Grant, among others. The album was engineered by Grammy Award winning sound engineer, Ronnie Brookshire.  Some of the same names are at work in the production of Bautista’s second album as funding permits.

Not new to the music performance scene, Bautista has performed at venues in Wisconsin, California, and Nevada. With the 2007 release of Abandon, Bautista expanded his performance schedule and locations to reach more people with the straightforward truths of his message.

“If I can reach just one lost soul for Christ or encourage a fellow believer who may be struggling,” Bautista said, “then this whole journey has been worth it.”

Bautista and his wife, Door County native Christy (nee Baye), home school their six children in southern Nevada.

Stephen will be performing songs from Abandon as well as debuting new music at his solo concert Saturday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Activity Center.  He will also be sharing selections of his music during all three church services the weekend of June 27-28, i.e. Saturday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 28 at 7:30 a.m. and 10:05 a.m.  CDs will be available for purchase at all events.  A “Meet & Greet” time between Sunday services will offer a chance to chat with the artist and his family over refreshments and coffee. To get a taste of Stephen’s music, visit his website at www.stephenbautistamusic.com, or call St. Peter’s and enjoy the CD while it plays as background music for those on hold.

Stephen and his family look forward to sharing these special events with you.
