Dear Parents and Students,

It’s hard to believe this is the last week of the school year.  May God continue to bless you by giving you a safe and blessed summer.

Please Respond:  An envelope was given today to the oldest child in each of our school families.  It contains a letter, an End-of-the-Year Evaluation Survey, a 2010-11 School Calendar, a School Commitment Sheet, and Tuition Balance Sheet.  Please look the information over and respond to the material.  We would like all the forms and payment by June 9^th if possible.

Mission Festival:  St. Peters is hosting the second annual Door County WELS Mission Festival after the 10 a.m. service on June 20^th.  Please join us for lots of family fun! 

Books:  We want all the students to read a lot this summer, but we also need to inventory our libraries.  Please return all school and classroom library books.  Check at home (under your bed, in the closet, mixed up with your own books on the bookshelf).  Then, during the summer, you can come in and check out a book or two if you want.

Hot Lunch News:  Please come to our annual School Summer Picnic at Otumba Park. It’s on Friday, June 4th, immediately following the closing song service.  Please have your reservations in WITH PAYMENT by Tuesday, June 1.  Menu is footlong (and regular) hotdogs, assorted chips, fresh fruit, cookies, water.  Cost is $4.00 for adults.  Children under 5 eat free.

There are still some outstanding lunch accounts.  Please take care of these as soon as possible. Thank you.

Awards Night & Kindergarten Graduation:  Everyone is invited to attend this special night, Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30.  You will witness the receiving of diplomas by the Kindergarten class, enjoy some entertainment, celebrate achievements, and have some ice cream.  The families of all students, preschool through eighth grade are welcome.

Last Day of School:  Come and enjoy the last day of school with us.  From 8:30-10:00 we will have our all school track meet.  Students, please wear running shoes (no flip flops, clogs, or sandals).  Then join us in church for our song service at 10:45.  Dismissal is at 11:30 followed by our school picnic at Otumba.

Graduation:  Eighth Grade Graduation will be on Sunday, June 6, during the 10:05 church service.  Students in grades K-7^th are singing “God Loves Me Dearly”.

Missions Thank You: We also received a “thank you” letter from Pastor Mark Schroeder, President of the Wisconsin Synod.  This was in response to our mission offering of $654.45 directed to Earthquake Disaster Relief.

Door County WELS Mission Festival:  Save the date of June 20 for our second annual Door County WELS Mission Festival after 10 a.m. services.  Planned activities include: “Taste of Missions” foods from our world mission fields and ethnic potluck lunch;  a parade of Mission Nations featuring floats decorated with information about our WELS mission fields;  Missionary Pastor Phil Birner will speak about his current mission assignment in Zambia;  children will be invited help create gifts that will be sent to Pastor Beckman to distribute to orphans in India.

Please join us for lots of family fun! 

Tuition:  Tuition fees should be paid in full by the end of next week.

Youth Group:  Hey all you 7th and 8th graders, join our Youth Group for the Empty Dugout baseball lock-in Tournament at Fox Valley Lutheran High School on June 26th and 27th.  Come and enjoy the good Christian fellowship.

Track:  We only a small number of students from St. Peters participating in our league track meet.  Our 5^th-6^th grade girls took 8^th, 5^th-6^th grade boys took 4^th, 7^th-8^th grade girls 9^th, and 7^th-8^th grade boys 10^th.  Jordan Anthony did quite well being involved with 44 of our school’s (combined all four teams) 60 points.  More information will be included in the Awards Night program.  Thank you to all who participated and to coaches Jesse Sanchez, Linda Mohr, and Amanda Smith.

VBS:  Register now for our High Seas Adventure on June 14-18.  Deadline is this Friday.

Dear Parents and Students,

Uniforms:  Please turning all clean softball uniforms this week.

Hot Lunch News:  Wear Sunglasses Day is Thursday, May 20.  The school picnic is Friday, June 4.  Check future newsletters for more information!

Track:  Practice on Monday will be at the Sturgeon Bay High School track from 3:30-5:00.  Wednesdays practice will be from 2:45-4:00 at school.   The track meet is this Friday at Brillion beginning at 4:00.

VBS:  There is still time to register for our High Seas Adventure on June 14-18, 9:00 AM till noon.  Be a crew member (6^th grade or lower), or a crew leaders (entering 7^th through adult).  Please fill out the back of the registration form and place it in the box or contact Mrs. Wierer (743-0032).

Spring Cleaning:  Thank you to all who helped clean and beautify the building and grounds this past Saturday.  Your help was greatly appreciated.

American Folklore Theater:  AFT has given each of our students a ticket to see “Life on the Mississippi” this summer.  This play takes you on a journey with Mark Twain.  Shows are held Mondays or Fridays at 8:00 PM or Wednesdays at 6:00 PM beginning June 18^th.

Red Cross:  The Red Cross is having their Blood Drive here at St. Peters today and tomorrow.  Give Blood!

Summer Reading:  Beth Lokken from the Door County Public Library will be here on Tuesday to explain their summer reading program.  There are also resources at the Accelerated Reader website to encourage summer reading (www.arsummer.com).  Keep your child learning and growing all summer long. 

End of Year Survey:  Our annual survey evaluation will be distributed next week.  Please take the time to fill it out in an open and constructive way.  We want to hear from you.  It is our goal, with the Lord’s help, to make the education offered at St. Peters LES the best education you could want for your child.  Please help us reach our goal.

Dear Parents and Students,

Athletics:  Track practice Monday and Wednesday from 2:45-4:15.  Softball practice Tuesday and Thursday (2:45-5:00).

Softball Tournament:  The LLL Tournament is Friday, May 7, at Branch Fields near Manitowoc beginning at 1:00.

Midterms:  Midterm reports will be issued today.

VBS:  Registration forms and boxes are located at each entrance of the church.  Dates for our High Seas Adventure are June 14-18, 9:00 AM till noon.  We are in great need of crew leaders.  These leaders can be those entering 7^th grade through any age adult.  Your responsibility is to lead about five children of various ages from station to station where your crew will take part in various activities.  It is a very uplifting time as you grow together in Christ.  Please fill out the back of the registration form and place it in the box or contact Mrs. Wierer (743-0032).

Spring Cleaning:  Come Saturday, May 15^th, to help beautify St. Peters Church & School building and grounds.  We will give the whole building a good cleaning on the inside.  We’ll also rake and trim, etc. the property outside.  If you plan on helping on the outside, bring a rake and some gloves.  Call Bob Johnson at 743-4432 ext. 161 if you have questions.  We plan on starting at 9:00 AM.

BB Camp:  Information on a Southern Door Basketball Camp is located outside Mr. Livingston’s classroom.  There is also a wide variety of information for other camps outside the school office.

Dear Parents and Students,

Confirmation:  Congratulations to our Confirmands: Sage Beckmann, Josh, Braun, Gilly Davison, Erin Miller, and Brenna Thoma.  May you continue to grow closer to your Lord throughout your live.

Athletics:  Track practice Monday from 2:45-4:15.  No practice Wednesday.  Softball practice Tuesday and Thursday (2:45-5:00).

Softball Tournament:  The rains held of and we were able to get the entire softball tournament in on Saturday.  The Storm played 4 games and finished 2-2, but were just out of the trophy games.  Algoma beat St. Paul’s, Green Bay for the championship.  A BIG Thank You to all people who donated their time or supplies for the tournament.  It’s always you who make these events run smoothly.  Thank You again.

        Next games will be on May 7 down at Branch Fields in Manitowoc.  The LLL Tournament which begins at 1:00.

Class Trips:  The 7^th and 8^th graders will be heading to Milwaukee this Wednesday.  Their trip will be to see weather/science fair type program and a Brewer game.  The 4^th graders are taking their annual trip to the capital in Madison this Friday and Saturday to coincide with their Wisconsin State History.  The 2^nd and 3^rd graders will visit two local museums also on Friday.  We pray that the Lord gives them safe travels, good weather, and a fun educational experience

Math Meet: Recently, St. Peters participated in the annual Door County Middle School Math Meet down at Southern Door.  The mathletes represented their school well by taking 4th place out of 13 teams.  The team members were, Erin Miller, Josh Braun, Gilly Davison, Sam Thoma, Brady Lenius, Joseph Mohr, Levi Haight, and Parker Trelka. Way to go!

Forensics:  We have practice on Wednesday, April 14, after school from 2:45-4:30 PM.  Please make arrangements to be

picked up by 4:30.  ALL CONTESTANTS need to be there.  Make sure you have all materials to perform your presentation.

The B.A.L.L. Forensics Meet is this Saturday at St. Paul’s, Green Bay.  Contestants should arrive by 8:30 AM. 
Competition begins at 9:00 AM.  St. Peters has 16 students and two full teams competing this year.  If you have errands to run in Green Bay anyway, what a great way to start the day by cheering on your Storm teams at the forensics competition. 

The event should be concluded around 12:30 PM.  See you there.

Geo Bee:  Congratulations to Brenna Thoma who represented our school at the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee.  Brenna was one of only 9 other girls among the 100 finalists from around the state.  She had a very successful first round but it was not enough to qualify for the finals. We are proud of you, Brenna.

Confirmation:  Our 8^th grade Confirmation class will be reading their Bible passages in church this weekend at all three services.  Examination is next week Friday and the actual Confirmation is on Sunday, April 25.  We pray for the Lord’s blessings on these young people as they prepare to take their vow of faithfulness to the Lord.

Youth Group:  All 7th & 8th grade students are welcome to join the Youth Group.  Our next meeting will be on April 18th at 11:30.  We will be going out and doing Spring clean up for Elderly members of the Congregation.  Bring a rake!

VBS:  Sign up for a “High Seas Expedition” June 14-18.  All preschool through next year’s 6th graders are invited to go on this adventure each morning from 9:00 AM until noon.  Please register before May 28.  Extra registration forms are available.  Please contact Mrs. Wierer (743-4432 ext. 140 or 743-0032) with any questions or to volunteer your help.

Track:  Practice is Monday only this week (2:45-4:15).  No practice Wednesday due to Forensics practice.

Softball:  Practice is Tuesday and Thursday (2:45-5:00). 

Softball Tournament:  The 5th Annual St. Peters Softball Tournament will be held April 24th at Sunset Park.  Parents of softball players are asked to be willing to volunteer their time throughout the day either in the concessions stand, helping set up, or clean-up at the end of the day.  Any other volunteers will be greatly appreciated.  Also, the Booster Club needs food and drink items donated for the concessions stand.  Look for a sign up sheet at the entrance into school or contact Sue Fritschler.  I thank you in advance for helping make this tournament run smoothly.

Competition begins at 9:00 AM.  St. Peters has 16 students and two full teams competing this year.  If you have errands to run in Green Bay anyway, what a great way to start the day by cheering on your Storm teams at the forensics competition.

Geo Bee:  Congratulations to Brenna Thoma who represented our school at the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee.  Brenna was one of only 9 other girls among the 100 finalists from around the state.  She had a very successful first round but it was not enough to qualify for the finals. We are proud of you, Brenna.

Confirmation:  Our 8^th grade Confirmation class will be reading their Bible passages in church this weekend at all three services.  Examination is next week Friday and the actual Confirmation is on Sunday, April 25.  We pray for the Lord’s blessings on these young people as they prepare to take their vow of faithfulness to the Lord.

Youth Group:  All 7th & 8th grade students are welcome to join the Youth Group.  Our next meeting will be on April 18th at 11:30.  We will be going out and doing Spring clean up for Elderly members of the Congregation.  Bring a rake!

VBS:  Sign up for a “High Seas Expedition” June 14-18.  All preschool through next year’s 6th graders are invited to go on this adventure each morning from 9:00 AM until noon.  Please register before May 28.  Extra registration forms are available.  Please contact Mrs. Wierer (743-4432 ext. 140 or 743-0032) with any questions or to volunteer your help.

Track:  Practice is Monday only this week (2:45-4:15).  No practice Wednesday due to Forensics practice.

Softball:  Practice is Tuesday and Thursday (2:45-5:00). 

Softball Tournament:  The 5th Annual St. Peters Softball Tournament will be held April 24th at Sunset Park.  Parents of softball players are asked to be willing to volunteer their time throughout the day either in the concessions stand, helping set up, or clean-up at the end of the day.  Any other volunteers will be greatly appreciated.  Also, the Booster Club needs food and drink items donated for the concessions stand.  Look for a sign up sheet at the entrance into school or contact Sue Fritschler.  I thank you in advance for helping make this tournament run smoothly.

Dear Parents and Students,

He is risen!  He is risen indeed!  I hope and pray you all had an enjoyable and blessed Easter.

Youth Group:  All 7th & 8th grade students are now able to come and join the Youth Group every 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.  Our next meeting will be on April 18th at 11:30.  We will be going out and doing Spring clean up for Elderly members of the Congregation.  Bring a rake!

Church Attendance:  Church attendance over the Easter break is for Palm Sunday (3/28), Maundy Thursday (4/1), Good Friday (4/2), and Easter Sunday (4/4).  Please fill out the form and return it to your child’s teacher for easy recording.

Report Cards:  Report cards will be issued today.  Please sign and return the envelopes.  If you have any questions or concerns, call your child’s teacher immediately.  I will encourage the faculty to do the same with you.

Athletics:  Track practices are Mondays and Wednesdays (starting today).  Softball practice continues every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45-5:00. 

VBS:  All preschool through next year’s 6th grade students are invited to go on a “High Seas Expedition” June 14-18.  The adventure starts each morning at 9:00 and ends at 12:00 noon.  Extra registration forms are available at each church entrance as well as by the Kindergarten room.  There is also a box at each location in which to place all completed forms.  Please register before May 28, so we can be sure to have materials available for your child.  Any questions, please contact Mrs. Wierer (743-4432 ext. 140 or 743-0032).

Art:  Our students will once again have the opportunity to display their artwork at the Door County Public Library.  Artwork will be displayed from April 12-23.

Dear Parents and Students,

Save the Date!  Our school children will sing for our WELS Mission Festival on June 13^th AFTER the 10:05 AM service.  Stay and enjoy a potluck lunch (which includes a taste of foods from our world missions) and meet a missionary.  Kids will participate in a mission parade and make a gift that will be sent to orphans in mission countries. Everyone is welcome!

SCRIP:  After 7 months of “SCRIP for Tuition”, 23 families received a total of $1174.66.  Five families received over $100 each with two others being very close to that amount.  It may not seem like a lot when you purchase SCRIP certificates, but it does add up.  I would encourage all of you to use the SCRIP program.  It helps the school even if you do not use it for tuition.

Softball:  Softball practice continues every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45-5:00.  Those 5^th-8^th graders interested in participating should bring a glove and be dressed in athletic clothes. 

Track:  Track will start the Monday after Easter break (April 5th).  Practices will be Monday and Wednesday.

Geography Bee:  Brenna Thoma won the school Geography Bee back in January.  She then took a test and became a semifinalist in the Wisconsin Geography Bee.  She will be eligible to compete in the 2010 Wisconsin Geography Bee held in Madison on April 9.  Congratulations, Brenna, and Lord’s blessings!

Academic Fair:  Participants in MLHS Academic Fair “faired” well on Saturday.  The math team placed 7th out of 28 teams with Joseph Mohr placing 2nd individually of all the 7th graders.  In the Academic Bowl team “Lightning” (Gilly Davison, Creston Davison, Erin Miller, Sam Thoma) won their first match up but lost the next.  Team “Thunder” (Matt Virgin, Brenna Thoma, Morgan VanderMissen, James Dunn) lost their first match but made it to the Consolation Championship before losing again.  Spelling notables: 1st place - Brenna Thoma, Sam Thoma; 2nd place - James Dunn, Morgan VanderMissen; 3rd place - Erin Miller, Joseph Mohr, Kieran Davison; 4th place - Creston Davison.  Art Awards:  1^st - Gilly Davison, Erin Miller; 2^nd – Morgan VanderMissen, James Dunn.  Congratulations Everyone on a job well done!

Lent Services:   Our last Lent service is this Wednesday at 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM.  One correction from last week; the Fellowship Meal was sponsored by the Mission Awareness Team.  This week the Executive Board will be cooking!

Singing:  K-8 students will sing with the choir Palm Sunday, March 28^th at both services.  Practice is at 7:10 and 9:50 for the respective services.  Please let your teacher know which service you will be attending

Absent:  I will be gone Thursday and Friday.  Please call Mr. Thoma at 743-4432 ext. 142 if you need to contact someone.
